Saira Malhotra

Hello, I am Saira. I am a social worker and registered psychotherapist in Denver, but you can also call me an Emotion Tamer, Strength Booster, or Personal Transformation Instigator.

Emotion Tamer

As a clinician, I am passionate about helping children who have difficulty managing their behavior, big emotions, or general distress that they encounter in daily life. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in my therapeutic approach. While applying these techniques, I incorporate principles of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and strengths-based practice in order to best meet each client’s unique needs.

Strength Booster

I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with identity development, life transitions, and relationship challenges. While I specialize in individual therapy with clients from ages 7 to 23, I also help clients across all age groups heal from anxiety and depression, provide general family and parenting support, and correspondence with school counselors. As a therapist, I support clients in harnessing their strengths to overcome and evolve from life’s challenges.

Personal Transformation Instigator

I am inspired by a fundamental belief in the power of transformation. My practice is rooted in the notion that all individuals have unique strengths that can be difficult to fully realize when emotional pain feels overwhelming. Through the therapeutic process, I hope that clients will find beauty and pride in their transformations.

Education and Training

I have eight years of experience in the field of youth mental health. I have worked in a variety of settings to provide outpatient mental health support and crisis management to young people and their and families, across many demographics. I graduated with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver and obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Boston University.

More About Me

In addition to my work as a clinician, I have been heavily involved in researching evidence-based interventions in service of youth mental health. I am presently working on a study examining best practices for homeless young adults at risk for substance use dependency.

In my spare time, I love to explore new restaurants, practice yoga, or spend quality time with loved ones. I also enjoy art in all its forms, ranging from calligraphy to film and television.

I see clients in our Denver office and virtually Monday through Thursday. For an appointment, click here or call (720) 863-6100.
