Hello! I am Ally. I’m a therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can also call me a confusion clearer, trigger tamer, and emotion encourager.
My goal is to help each client achieve a healthier level of mental well-being in order to gain some insight, control, and peace in their mental health.
My ideal clients are those who have realized they need help beyond what they can do alone and are open to working towards making changes to help improve their overall well being, especially adolescents, teens, and young adults.
Confusion Clearer
Adolescents, teenagers, and young adults are at important ages of transition in their development which can sometimes be difficult to navigate through especially on their own. I work with them and their families, when needed, to help guide them to learning more appropriate ways to address and voice the concerns they are experiencing by using person centered therapy with solution focused techniques.
Trigger Tamer
I work on targeting problems revolving around behaviors being exhibited by working with clients, child or adult, to target any undesirable behaviors and guide them to learning how to better manage the behaviors in their daily lives. It’s important to me to help develop some techniques that can be used in a variety of environments so that no matter the situation you feel more confident in getting through the struggle you’re having. I am direct but will be thoughtful about how every person has a different way they process their thoughts and feelings.
Emotion Encourager
I use a lot of humor and colorful sayings in order to help make connections easier for each person I work with so they can better understand how feelings and thoughts affect us daily without judgment or dismissal. I believe that we are all human and make mistakes but the important thing to know about mistakes is how to learn from them and grow. I always tell my clients that I, just like you, am human and have flaws. Mistakes are about learning and bringing forward awareness. So though we are flawed as people it’s important to make sure that flaws become strengths instead of weaknesses through being mindful and aware.
Education and Training
I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from McNeese State University.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with licenses in Colorado, Louisiana, and Texas. I have been working in the counseling field since 2013 while working in private practice and agencies specifically with children/teens as well as adults in both Louisiana and Texas.
