Hi there! I'm Andrea. I’m a therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective. You can also think of me as a Compassion Cultivator, Identity Explorer, and Shame Stopper.
I help people struggling with emotional distress, mood instability, and traumatic experiences to overcome insecurity and reclaim hope to live a more aligned life.
My ideal clients are adolescents and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, body image, and relational, childhood, or systems related trauma.
Compassion Cultivator
Does that critical voice in your head never stop? Does it feel like nothing you do is ever good enough or you're always to blame? If you find yourself struggling to accept who you are, I can help you quiet your inner critic and build self-compassion to work toward acceptance of your
truest self. You don't have to be your own worst enemy anymore. Let's learn new ways to honor who you are.
Identity Explorer
Identity is complicated and ever-evolving. We all have ideas of who we are, who we want to be or who we're supposed to be. Society, family, and friends often have a lot of rules about this too. If you're having a hard time figuring out your place in the world and want to feel free to express yourself, I can help you navigate and explore things like gender, sexuality, race, and
development through different life stages. If you find yourself feeling lost or wondering where the old you went, I can work with you to uncover and foster the parts of you that help you feel whole again.
Shame Stopper
Do you feel like you have to hide your problems or like no one understands you? Are there parts of your story that you keep to yourself for fear of judgment and shame? I can offer you a space to be seen, heard, and supported without stigma. I'm here to hold space for you to shed the shame of what you've been through and take power back over your life. Your voice deserves to be heard, unapologetically.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
I received my Master of Social Work from Boston University with a Certification in Trauma and Violence.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Marist College.
I have worked in various levels of care in non profits, child welfare, adolescent residential care, crisis intervention, and pediatric behavioral health with a wide range of complex mental health conditions. I specialize in complex trauma and enjoy helping with mood disorders, grief, and empowerment. I use an anti-oppression, person-centered and reflective approach. In our therapeutic relationship, you can count on me to see you as more than a diagnosis; I aim to honor and uncover the complexities and strengths of each human being.
MORE ABOUT ME
I value self expression, adventure, equity, humor, and growth. I moved to Colorado from New England in 2020. I enjoy the outdoors camping, hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. Some of my favorite ways to spend the day are taking my dog out, going on a day trip to the mountains, writing poetry or hammocking at the park. I'm passionate about trying new things and living a fulfilling life.
