Angie Douglas, MA, LPC

Hello! I am Angie. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor at Denver Mental Health Collective specializing in trauma, anxiety, and grief recovery. You can also call me a Trauma Mender, Anxiety Soother, & Grief Healer.

I help adults cope after experiencing traumatic events and recover from feelings of dread, worry, loss, and fear.

My ideal clients are adults (ages 25+) experiencing strong emotions or confusion after a traumatic experience or life-changing event. If you’re feeling anxious, confused, sad, numb, or uncertain, I can help. I also am passionate about sharing the grief journey with adults healing from significant loss such as death or divorce. I integrate creative and faith-based approaches

Trauma Mender

Are you feeling lost, confused, helpless, frustrated, or overwhelmed after a disturbing event happened to you or someone close to you? Do you sometimes feel as if you are on the verge of coming unglued or re-experiencing a disturbing event? I provide an opportunity to process in a safe environment to help reduce symptoms of trauma (nightmares, flashbacks, feeling disconnected, strong feelings of fear, etc.).

I have spent the last 11 years helping individuals recover from traumatic or life-changing incidents. People and the world can feel scary, unsafe, and untrustworthy after trauma. It can be hard to trust again. Together we can find a way for you to find hope and trust again. Life can feel manageable, and you can feel empowered and realize your own strength.

Anxiety Soother

Do you have strong emotional reactions that seem bigger than intended? Would you like to learn new ways to improve your ability to stay calm in different situations? I teach effective coping tools to calm anxiety, decrease worry, and improve mood.

I also work closely to help individuals understand how anxiety works in the brain and body to help you understand how the tools I recommend are effective and help you personalize interventions that will work best for you. You will learn practical and effective tools to feel calmer.

Grief Healer

Are you struggling to cope with the death of a loved one? Are you angry, sad, or confused about how to feel after a divorce or not having the life you anticipated? I work closely with you to honor and share your experience.

Grief can feel messy, and I invite tears, anger, heartache, and any emotions you have. Together we will work to ease heartache and understand the grieving process. The reality of loving deeply means also experiencing deep pain when that loved one is gone. You are not alone! Let me take the first step with you as you face loss and recover from grief, find peace, ease pain, and make meaning from this loss.

Education and Training

I received my Master’s in Counseling in Community Counseling from Regis University. I worked for the past four years in private practice and before that in crisis services with families and individuals. I have completed specialized training to be able to utilize the trauma intervention of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Grief Counseling.
