Finn Mahan, MS, LPC

Hello, my name is Finn Mahan. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here at Denver Mental Health Collective but you can think of me as a Sexuality & Gender Identity Guru, Self Awareness Monitor, and Kindness Cultivator. As a sexuality and gender identity therapist, I help others determine who they truly are and cultivate inner-kindness for that person. I am here as a guide to walk alongside you in this journey of life. My goal is to help you heal the past and create the future as you genuinely want to live it.

Sexuality & Gender Identity Guru

I help people that are questioning their sexuality and gender identity find answers. Are you questioning your identity? I can help you find some comfort. Are you struggling with a transition? I can help you resolve your questions and support your transition to your true identity. I have spent the last six years helping people determine who they are as well as healing the trauma from the past. Together, we will work toward changing beliefs that are keeping you from accepting yourself, as you are, and entering the world as your true self when you are ready. I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community and utilize many different approaches in order to find what works best for you.

Self-Awareness Monitor

Do you get lost in your thoughts? Have you ever felt totally overwhelmed but unable to explain what’s going on? The good news is, you’re human and I can help. We’ll work together to become more aware of the thoughts that matter while finding the vocabulary to describe what you’re feeling. Oftentimes, mood disturbances – like anxiety and depression – stem from unhelpful thoughts and are compounded by pushing away emotions that we don’t want to deal with. Sound familiar? You don’t have to deal with it alone. We can work on changing this.

Kindness Cultivator

Do you wish you could be kind to yourself with the same ease with which self-critical voice takes the stage? I want that for you, too. I know what it’s like to live with self-critical thoughts, and I know what it’s like to live without them. I can help you discover ways to cultivate kindness for yourself. Often, we ignore ourselves, which leads to so many problems within our lives and relationships. I will walk with you, step by step, toward a more gentle and kind inner dialogue.

Education & Training

I received my MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and my BS in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. I discovered Counseling as my passion after more than a decade in leadership and upper management roles at one of the nation’s largest retailers.

More about me

When I’m not working as a sexuality and gender identity therapist, I enjoy spending time outside with my dogs and my family. I also have a tortoise named Poof.
