Hello! My name is Jamie Dinneen and I am a provisionally licensed therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective. You can also call me a Meaning Making Manager, Self-Compassion Encourager, and Healthy Relationship Builder. My approach to helping clients involves helping them understand the function of their thoughts and feelings while honoring these thoughts and feelings, and moving forward with a better awareness of themselves. I use an integrative approach in session that is mainly based in CBT. I have also recently been trained in EMDR and am excited to begin using this technique in my practice. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives and I am excited to help facilitate you through your journey.
Meaning Making Manager
Unfortunate things happen in our lives. These things can be incredibly painful and make you feel as though you will be stuck with these uncomfortable feelings indefinitely. When this happens, my goal is to help clients decide how they will take what has happened to them and move forward with it all while making meaning out of the experiences that can help you on your healing journey. No one likes it when these sorts of things happen however, you can take back control of your narrative and continue onward.
Self-Compassion Encourager
The majority of us have things we don’t like about ourselves. Maybe we acted in a way that we don’t feel good about or we don’t feel like we did enough in other situations. It can be hard to sit with these feelings. However, when we are able to understand ourselves and why we act and feel the way we do, it can be a lot easier to be compassionate towards ourselves, even the parts of ourselves we are not as fond of. I aim to help clients not only understand themselves, but teach them to feel compassion about all aspects of who they are and how they feel.
Healthy Relationship Builder
It can be difficult interacting with others. People can get under your skin and make you feel uneasy about various things. Part of my strategy is to understand why these feelings may come about by identifying the underlying issues. We can begin to work together to determine what you need to feel safe and secure within interactions with others.
Education and Training
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2016 from Regis University. Afterwards, I spent several years working in a residential treatment facility for adults who were living with severe and persistent mental illness. I received my MA Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver in 2023. These experiences have allowed me to continue to gain knowledge on a variety of issues and become comfortable in different settings. I hope to share the knowledge I have gained with you.
More About Me
When I’m not seeing clients, I am most often hanging out with my dog, knitting, or experimenting with new cookie recipes. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family while enjoying the beauty of Colorado! Please contact our intake coordinator today to schedule a free phone consultation.
