Joseph Caldwell

Hello! I am Joe Caldwell and I’m a therapist here at the Denver Mental Health Collective but you can also call me a Nervous System Co-regulator and a Harm Reductionist.

I help adults and couples to create a collaborative, non-judgmental space where we can explore your challenges, celebrate your strengths and work toward meaningful change.

My ideal clients are people navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, substance use, seeking personal growth or working through a unique relationship with a coping or comfort-seeking behavior. I am here to walk with you regardless of where you’re at along your journey.

Nervous System Co-Regulator

Have you had challenges feeling off-balance when navigating stressors or difficult experiences? Together we can explore how internalized narratives about our story impact the ways in which we show ourselves compassion. We will work together, at your own pace, to build skills for living meaningfully while honoring your experiences.

Harm Reductionist

How do you seek comfort or cope with life stressors? Many of us escape through too much time on our phones,  foods, drugs, or other coping behaviors to help deal with life when it feels unmanageable. I use a harm reduction psychotherapy approach to celebrate any and all small changes you can make to better understand how you find comfort when feeling overwhelmed. I provide a nonjudgmental approach and process uniquely tailored to your needs when exploring how to find balance in life.

Resilience Story Weaver

What if everything you think is wrong with you is your superpower? We are all living in times of transition and sometimes inviting a moment to slow down and have a check-in can be one of the most radical forms of self-compassion. In our sessions, and with therapy in general, you should feel heard, seen, and know that your experiences and wisdom are valued.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver – Graduate School of Social Work. Previous to my social work program, I worked to develop and manage programs designed to meet people where they are in their mental health journey, particularly with people who use drugs, people who do sex work, and trans and gender nonconforming communities.

When I’m not therapizing, you can find me trying out new recipes in the kitchen, going to electronic music concerts, spending time with my family and friends, and falling into Wikipedia “black holes” for hours on end.

Please contact our office today to schedule a free phone consultation. During this time our Client Care Coordinator can talk more about what’s going on and how I can help you feel better.
