Hello! I am Nathan Ung. I’m a therapist at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can also call me an essence illuminator and systems architect. I work to help people build healthy interpersonal and personal relationships.
Are you or your child struggling with anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns or with communication? Feeling stuck in life’s many uncertainties or making big changes and in need of additional support? I can provide an emotional space and understanding!
I help support children, adolescents, and families who struggle with bridging and building upon their lives and relationships. My ideal clients are those who struggle with connecting and expressing themselves emotionally and behaviorally. I believe that growth and change can happen when everyone comes together.
It takes a lot of courage to talk about life challenges and big feelings. You are very brave in taking this first step in looking for support. So, ask yourself, are you ready to start feeling better and feel some relief?
Essence Illuminator
Children display behaviors as a response to a variety of factors in their life. I work with both the child and the family to uncover the meaning and feelings behind the behavior and implement health coping strategies. Behaviors are a way for children to communicate their struggles and needs with us. I strive to provide a warm, inviting, freeing and confidential setting for all my clients. I maintain a supportive, collaborative, therapeutic environment where the child’s voice is heard. I work towards inner peace on their journey of healing and growth.
Systems Architect
As a parent, your love and concern for your child’s wellbeing is important. When your child or adolescent is struggling, it can impact you, as well as the entire family. I will support you in healing and finding hope and growth with you and your children in building resilience, communication, emotional regulation, and coping skills.
“People are just wonderful sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, ‘soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner.’ I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” – Carl Rogers
How Do I Help
I am a relational therapist who takes a client centered approach to therapy. I see myself as an ally for you, someone who holds space to process your thoughts and feelings, all while working to meet your goals. I want to help you achieve your version of success, all the while seeking joy and building self-compassion.
I utilize both play and art therapy techniques to help bridge connections within themselves. Using play and art, children learn to explore and express feelings, explore behaviors, bridge relationships and develop problem solving skills. I also use mindfulness techniques as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help challenge and build personal growth.
Education and Trainings
I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor concentration in Biology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver.
I have worked with Children’s Hospital of Colorado and within the community working with children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional challenges. During this time, I have gained experience working with children and their families, rebuilding and building relationships.
More About Me
Those who are close to me know that I am a “go with the flow” type individual that enjoys the little things in life with friends and family. When I am not working on a project, my ideal day would be for me to be out and about exploring and experiencing something new or unique with my life partner and our little furry four-legged child.
Please contact me today to schedule a free phone consultation. During this time, we can talk more about what’s going on and how I can help you feel better.
