Hello! My name is Nathaniel Johnson, but you can also call me “Than” for short. I’m a therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can also call me a grief-grappler, a silver-lining seeker, and a thought-organizer.
I help adolescents and adults identify how their thoughts and feelings impact their physical and mental well-being so that they can face adversity in their lives with resilience and confidence.
My ideal clients are people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief or trauma who are curious and willing to try new things.
Are you struggling with the loss of a loved one? Grief is something we all experience at one point or another in our lives, but knowing this doesn’t make it any easier. I can help you navigate the feelings and emotions associated with loss to move forward from the most difficult times in your life.
Are you someone who has a lot of negative feelings and thoughts about the world and your place in it? Is it hard to find motivation because it seems like no matter what you do, nothing works out the way you want it to? Let me introduce you to the transformative power of gratitude practice and its ability to shift not only your thinking, but the actual structure of your brain to help make you the best possible version of yourself!
Do you find yourself easily distracted and unable to focus on everyday tasks that you need to get done? Modern life can feel like a juggling act and it often feels like there is never enough time in the day. Through various mind and body exercises and some simple organizational strategies, I can help you make the most out of your time and energy and stay fresh and focused on the things you need to do!
I am a student in the Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Northern Colorado in my final year of school. I have previously worked in substance use and addiction services as well as volunteered and studied with several mindfulness and contemplative organizations both in the United States and abroad.
In my free time, I love to spend time in the mountains, particularly rock climbing, hiking 14ers and skiing. I also love listening to music, playing my guitar, reading, and occasionally binge-watching bad TV comedy.
Please contact our office today to schedule a free phone consultation. During this time our Client Care Coordinator can talk more about what’s going on and how I can help you feel better.
