Lori Yacone, MA, LPC

I am Lori Yacone, a Licensed Professional Counselor at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can call me a Self-Esteem Builder. As a new member of the Denver Mental Health Collective team I bring 30 years of experience as a pediatric rehabilitation nurse at Children’s Hospital Colorado which has cultivated a deep understanding of humans with different abilities and disabilities (including myself) as well as my understanding of true human suffering. Through this, I believe accepting our individual gifts and challenges gives us a unique perspective to live our best life.

Self-esteem Builder

Disease, illness / disability, relationships and life’s many challenges can cause incredible discomfort and chaos. While finding our way through grief and loss may feel incredibly difficult, yet reaching out for support can make all the difference.

You are not alone on this journey.

As an optimist and a pragmatist I believe we all have the power to make changes and transform our lives. Although we may not have the life we imagined, we can still have a life filled with purpose, acceptance, love and human connection. I specialize in helping clients integrate mind, body and spirit as they find renewed balance and harmony.

I use a combination of therapy practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered and Integrative Therapy. I also embrace narrative therapy with a focus on resilience. My goal for clients is one of exploration of inner core values as well as honoring personal strengths and unique assets.

Education and Service:

Master of Art in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the City University of New York, Hunter College School of Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the State University of New York, College of Cortland

I have been a pediatric nurse for more than 30 years, serving patients and families.

More About Me

“While all children are a gift, children with special needs have the added gift of innate resilience.” – Lori Yacone

I am a head and neck cancer survivor and because of this I speak differently. Although my speech is different, I still have a voice and remain ever grateful for it. In addition, cycling is one of my favorite therapies and has been my salvation during the rough spots in my life. Riding in the Courage Classic Bike Tour (supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation) has been my motivation to get on my bike each spring for the past 26 years.
