Hello! I am Sarah. I’m a therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can also call me Space Holder, Creative Conductor, and Trauma Transformer.
I help individuals navigate through life’s hardships and celebrate their wins. Our lives are full of ups and downs, and I’m here to walk alongside you in your counseling journey. While you are the leader, I will be right beside you while gently challenging you so that you can heal from the past, be in the present, and accomplish your goals for the future.
My ideal clients are teens, young adults, and adults who have challenges with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, substance use, and trauma. Having an open mind to expressing yourself creatively is a plus as I specialize in Art Therapy.
Space Holder:
Do you feel like you need a safe and non-judgmental person to talk to? I am devoted to creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment with my clients to build trust, empathy, and a meaningful relationship. Collaboration and our therapeutic relationship are key to empowering you to heal, grow, and live a full and meaningful life.
Creativity Conductor:
Are you looking for a creative way to examine your life-- past, present, and future while making positive changes to live a meaningful life? With my guidance, I can help you channel your inner creator through my specialty in Art Therapy. Not an artist? That’s okay! Artistic talent is not required to receive the benefits of Art Therapy. When words are hard to find, Art Therapy can help you resolve inner conflicts, increase self-awareness, gain insight, reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and so much more.
Trauma Transformer:
Do you feel stuck in negative thought and behavior patterns? Are you feeling overwhelmed, distressed, anxious, or down related to traumatic life experiences? What you have been through in life may not have been a choice, but you can choose to recover and heal. With my training and experience in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), I can help you transform your difficult life experiences into challenges to overcome rather than obstacles to avoid.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Art Therapist, and currently in training for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I earned my Master of Science degree in Art Therapy Counseling from Emporia State University, and my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in Psychology from the University of North Texas. I have experience in therapeutic recreation, psychiatric rehabilitation, community mental health, and group practice with individuals across the lifespan with a wide range of mental health challenges. I use a person-centered approach throughout my practice in addition to evidenced based practices such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
MORE ABOUT ME
I value creativity, self-expression, kindness, compassion, humor, and perseverance. When I’m out and about, I enjoy going to concerts and music festivals, practicing hot yoga, hiking, traveling, and visiting my local metaphysical and plant shops. When I’m at home, I enjoy arts and crafts, taking care of my indoor plants and succulents, collecting gemstones and crystals, and cuddling up to my spouse and pup while we watch sci-fi, comedy, documentaries, or true crime.
Please contact our office to schedule a free phone consultation. During this time our Client Care Coordinator can talk more about what’s going on and how I can help you feel better.
